The Ultimate Fighter 6Discuss SpikeTV's The Ultimate Fighter Season 6 Here
Well, Hughes finally got a win...... and it could've easily been 7-1 when warmachine almost had the rear naked choke. A bloody fight. Tommy is a strong guy but very non-technical. Even though he had the full mount several times, he couldn't do enough damage for the referee to stop the fight.
Next week will be interesting. Since Serra controls who fights in the semi finals, he's planning to let two of Hughes guys to fight each other, to eliminate one of them and Hughes is going to have a fit. But the rule said if Hughes don't have enough guys to advance, he doesn't get a say in any of the match ups.
I REALLY hope Serra does it so Hughes can whine like a little girl some more. I missed the episode this week (stupid time change!), but I'm sure I'll catch it on the weekend or something during one of its replays. Didn't sound like I missed a ton from what I've read, except for a fantastic Matt Hughes impression by Serra.
Although, Hughes is taking the high road here while Serra is doing all the trash talking. I hope Serra can back it up. Before the TUF come back, Serra was relatively unknown and he was pretty much out of the whole UFC. Now, he's a champion because of one fight, while Hughes dominated that weight division for a very long time.
Well to be fair, Serra really isn't trash talking Hughes in the sense that he thinks he's a terrible fighter or is overrated, etc. He's just blasting him for being "a dick" in his opinion, which doesn't seem far off from most people's opinions of Hughes after watching this season so who knows. I also can't knock the guy for taking advantage of exactly what The Comeback season was designed to do: give a guy that was on his way out one more shot to show if he had what it takes by throwing him straight into the fire with the champ. He showed that regardless of whether or not the "real" GSP showed up or not and that says a lot in my opinion.
I don't take anything away from Serra. He was a great teammate when he was the participant and a great coach when he's in coaching situation. I just think he's a bit obsessed with beating Hughes and making fun of him. That's all. I'm not a big fan of Hughes either but I'm laughing, at the same time thinking is he going too overboard?
