Episode 9

What a grumpy guy Mac is. But what a fighter though.

I was very surprised how good he was. John couldn't do anything, no matter what he tried. His game plan was not a good one. He was the one who actually asked for the fight. i admire him for wanting to fight who he thought was the best.

Richy wanted to avoid fighting George but ended up drawing him for the next fight.

Matt Hughes continues to display his selfish better than everybody attitude.... No wonder the other guys didn't want to be coached by him.

I think George and Mac are the 2 best fighters who will end up in the Finale.

RE

He's grumpy, but he's willing to admit he's grumpy and doesn't like being grumpy. I can see where he's coming from though as living in that house with a bunch of immature grown men could get on your nerves. I liked the shot of the humming bird feeder at the end of the episode with the bird going at it after Mac's big win. Mac fought a good fight, but John seemed lost out there. Mac even commented that he looked nervous and every move was telegraphed. Oh well, I didn't give John much of a shot, but as Complete said, he gets credit for having the balls to go after the best guy in the house.

It sucks for Team Serra to have to be split up and be cornered by Hughes, and they weren't too happy about it. Hughes not even shaking the hands of Richie and Matt after their chat to try to "break the ice" was down right rude and again went to show how much of a dick he really is. I almost spit out my drink when Hughes said "I'm not here to play highschool games" or whatever, what an idiot.

Should be interesting how the next couple of weeks go with Team Serra guys squaring off. Serra said he won't corner either fighter, assumingly letting his other coaches do that.

RE

From Matt Hughes' Blog:

"The quarterfinals are here, and Matt Serra was trying to somewhat take his revenge out on me instead of letting his team fight other opponents when the matchups were made. He said two or three times in that room, ‘if I can get Matt Hughes to get both guys out quick, and match two of them up against each other now, then I’m that closer to beating Matt Hughes.’ So he’s all about beating me and not actually being a coach and letting his guys compete against other guys instead of their own teammates. Once again, it just takes a look at who Matt Serra is.

To be honest, I just don’t understand Serra’s constant insults and I am surprised, because I’m just not that way. Serra acting the way he is just goes to show me that he’s not really a respectful fighter or person. He’s just some guy out there trying to get revenge for something, and I still haven’t figured out what he’s so mad about."

Man Hughes is clueless and really has a twisted view of reality. He was laughing and giggling like the little school girl he has shown to be all season and at one point was like "He's such a meathead" in reference to Serra. But "he's just not that way" Give your head a shake Hughes.

Hughes is in a different world. I like that he thinks he's taking the high road by not calling Serra names and not using the cuss words to describe him but he's unaware how he disrespects others and how he's coming across very selfish in all his actions and remarks.

Oh well. They will square off soon enough and I have a feeling that it will be the end for that rivalry. Both are both past their primes. One will still be a champion who will have to defend against GSP. The other will probably disappear quietly. I think, but what do I know?

Mac is a very sound fighter. If he can keep his head straight, then he'll do great in the UFC. No doubt, he is the favorite to take it all.

Matt Hughes - what can I say? This guy thinks he is so above everyone else and comes off like a total jerk. I agree with alot of what he says, but its his actions that really tick me off. He was there to be a coach - not to make friends, but he hasn't shown either. He is there to train everyone that will listen, but he has not gained the trust of his team. The guy just lives in a fantasy world, there's no other way to explain it.

Matt Serra - why do you keep bashing Hughes? He is who he is and it just makes you look bad. Hughes does take the high road on the name-calling 99 times out of 100. Serra is a great coach, has his team behind him and believes in them, but I think he showed the wrong attitude when the guys were asked to go to the Hughes camp. Dude, it's a competition, if you really had the guys' best interest at heart then you would support them through the entire deal. Not very professional at all.

Just gotta throw this in - Tito was the greatest coach ever on TUF. He showed that he cared about and respected ALL the fighters, no matter whose team they were on .

It looks like they found a lot of decent fighters in this season. Well, maybe except for Blake.
