SPIKE RAMPS UP WEB FOR ULTIMATE FIGHTER 8

Season 8 of The Ultimate Fighter kicks off Wednesday night on Spike TV following UFC Fight Night 15 in Omaha, Neb. UFC interim heavyweight champion Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and former champion Frank Mir head this season as coaches of the two teams comprised of eight lightweight fighters and eight light heavyweight fighters.

In its newest incarnation, just like Season 7, starts off with 32 fighters that have to go head to head and fight their way into the Ultimate Fighter house and onto a team.

In an attempt to beef up the content on its web site for Season 8, Spike TV has added an online mixed martial art training game, MMA Training Ground, and is kicking off this season with a nine minute-plus clip of Wednesday’s opening episode.

Following Season 8, Mir will challenge Nogueira for his interim heavyweight championship with the winner facing the winner Randy Couture’s heavyweight title defense against Brock Lesnar at UFC 91 on Nov. 15, sometime in 2009.
