The US Team
Does anyone else think the US team is a joke. It's sad to say but i think the Americans are going to loose most of the fights. The UK team is more mature, and is actually a team. It takes a cohesive unit to prepare for a fight. The US seems more content bickering with eachother than helping eachother.

The black belt is not a mark or symbol of the end of the journey to ones mastery of the arts; rather it is the mark that one is done packing for their journey and may now take the first step in their true journey. This a journey which can not ever be complete, only traveled..."
I agree, but then again with the powers of editing the producers of the show may be making it seem way more dramatic than it really is. Every close group of people will have their disagreements and will say something bad about one another in a moment of anger.
I just honestly think the UK team is made up of better athletes who have more focus than the US team. The US guys seem to think they deserve to be there while the UK guys know what a privilege it is to be there.
Dan is the man, but he got a pretty poor team. All decent athletes, they just lack the maturity. I could see Demarques making it to the finals as long as he doesn't lose his head.
Don't forget that this is a TV show, fighters are picked based more on making good TV than making good fights.
Excellent point, Joe. I was heading that direction, but got sidetracked.
Didn't Bisping have some trouble with his work visa or something prior to the show? I thought I read that somewhere - maybe that was the issue. He doesn't strike me as the type to let his team down.

Henderson should completely destroy Bisping in the cage, if not it's either time to retire or a worked fight.
Agree 100% this to me was made evident by the fact that at the US casting they weren't taking the toughest fighters. I think the US team is hay stacked to promote the popularity of the sport in the UK and Europe.

That's not a bad theory, actually. Zuffa has done well in making themselves extremely rich off the ADD American public and the Brits are certain;y catching on quick to the sport so it would actually be a REALLY smart idea on their part to sell out the American team to get popularity over there.
Not that the UK couldn't formulate a team that could beat USA fighters, it's just that I once again personally know some very good fighters who tried out for the show and were passed up for lesser fighters.
I personally stopped watching after Season 3 for this very reason to be honest.

Exactly my point. I know a guy who was a two time national Greco Roman finalist that dominated the guys he rolled against at the auditions. WTF?

Yep, I know three top level BJJ black belts...COMPETETIVE black belts mind you with undefeated MMA records who weren't picked. But they're normal guys who don't wear their hats sideways so that's probably why they didn't make it.

I think you just hit it, Joe. That is why the UK team is so likeable (to me at least) - those guys are normal!
Right! I swear, I see a lot of the guys on that show and I can't tell you how much I think to myself that I honestly don't know too many MMA fighters like that. I mean, obviously they are out there but the most I know are nothing like the dudes they pick.

That's what I was gonna say. Most of the MMA fighters I've met or been around are very humble.
I didn't think about it until you guys brought it up...but it is a good point...they could very well be marketing it to get it more popular with the UK.

I know it's annoying! Who was the light weight that won last season Escadaro or something that kid was tough and would beat any of this years light weights.

Bisping was doing an excellent job coaching up until the no show he pulled for the fight. We'll see what caused this. I think it's been touched on before. The American team casting is a little bit like a real world casting now. The best fighters aren't always the ones that make the show.
