| Bow and Arrow Stances: Why the Name "Bow and Arrow"??
The Bow and Arrow Stance was given it's name because of the positioning of the stance.
When a Bow and Arrow is superimposed on a Forward Bow Stance, they are almost identical.
The forward or bent leg represents the lower part of the Bow and the rear or straight leg represents the Arrow.
3 common Bow and Arrow Stances (in Kenpo) are the:
Neutral Bow and Arrow Stance (Neutral Bow)
Forward Bow and Arrow Stance (Forward Bow)
Reverse Bow and Arrow Stance (Reverse Bow)
We also have a less extreme version of the Forward Bow
(not as wide and the rear heel not touching the ground)
which I refer to as a "Soft Bow" or Soft Bow and Arrow Stance. Is this true for other styles/arts??
