I'd say Bo Staff because I am very goo with it, and it has more reach than a kama.

but how often would you have a long wooded weapond verses a short one on the streeT?
LET ME GUESS, ALONG WITH WEARING A KF UNIFORM IN PUBLIC, YOU CARRY THE BO?
This was not the purpose of the thread, however. You've stated, many times, and in many threads, how this or that weapon isn't practical, but nobody asked here, or mentioned in any way, practicality.
I don't have a long weapon on the street, but in the place I'm most likely to be attacked (at work) there's one sitting at pretty much every corner.
Personally, I'd prefer to have a bo (and actually have two of them). This is for several reasons. I like the reach, I like the fact that it's a bludgeoning weapon, and I dislike the shape (functionally) of the kama.

I would prefer the bo staff because of three main factors: 1) it has a greater reach than the kama, 2) it can more easily be used as a non-lethal weapon than the bladed kama, 3) you can find variations of a bo just about everywhere (mop handles, broom handles, etc.) so it's more readily available.

Nice.....but you can find short weapons like the kama, garden tools, kitchen knives-untensils, tree branch, tire iron, short umbrellas...

That post before mine, was that for post counting? How about the one after?
Hey, my post count has the same palaverment tone as anyone elses'
Reach is nice, but should one practice-equally, if not, a little more with short?
Why? Sticking to the thread, there is only one object at my work that's anywhere similar to a kama, and it would collapse under impact.

Unless you actually have a sickle in your garage (which reminds me, I've got to get one ), the only objects that I can think of in this area that really work with the way a kama is used would be a small hand-rake (don't get me wrong, an excellent weapon) and a tire iron (again). Knives don't use the same motion for stabbing as kama do, and the method of slicing with a knife really wouldn't work with kama (or, rather, vice-versa). Tree branch is a club, not a cutting/penetrating weapon, as is an umbrella (unless you have a pointy-tipped one, which uses more of a rapier motion than a kama)

if you held a knife downward I should think they are very similar because your wrist /forearm almost become like the handle and you could attack in the same way.

I can see that as being somewhat similar. Still doesn't feel quite right, but kama training would be better than nothing in this case.
