Home Country: | As far as I am aware, a dirk is a small kind of dagger or knife, the Scottish used to hide them in their kilts... Although they probably were used all over the world... Looking for a pic now

Home Country: | Thank you for the description of the dirk and the pics in wikipedia explain a lot more.
But I have a question here; is possession a sharp edge weapon if carried on your person is the same as carrying a loaded gun? In my country, carrying a weapon on your body or in your car is illegal. That's why I have a walking cane in my car. If questioned at a police roadblock somewhere, I can always make up excuses like my grandfather must have forgotten about his walking cane and left it there. Those of you who train using swords and spears. Have you face problem with the law carrying them around to class or demonstration or anywhere for that matter? |

Home Country: | My weapon of choice would be a 36' double edged broad sword, but i was wondering, does a chimp holding a sword count as just one weapon? |

Home Country: | I've never really had any problems carrying weapons to and from class. Been pulled over a couple of times and explain the weapons aren't edged and they are for class. The officers will usually ask me a few questions about kung fu then let me go on about by business.
Now if I'm carrying one weapon on my person and it is sharp, ready to use. The reaction is going to be different and consistant with a concealed weapon. It'd be hard to convince an officer you were just on your way to class in that case, I think.

Home Country: | in sunny old England, if you even want to carry a slightly pointy stick around you need lawful excuse, weapons to and from classes are different however as long as you keep them hidden away in a car and can prove where you're going. Walking down the street with a katana on your back is a no no unfortunately!

Home Country: | funny thing here is that you can carry a loaded shot gun strapped to your back, but it is illegal to carry a knife with a blade longer than the width of your palm. |

But that is really the reason for weapons in those days. It is a necessity to have one. But these days you dont see the need to have a weapon on you until the other person suddenly point a knife at you and you say "If only I could just unsheath my katana, that will show him whose knife is longer/bigger." |

Home Country: | Nice pic! But personally I think a chimp would look great with a big club... preferably with a nail stuck through it!
