I was taught by my instructor that Kali is the original term as given to the art before the Spanish arrived. Kali is an Indo-Asiatic word while Arnis and Escrima are European influenced.
I avoid name dropping as a standard practice (just don't do the hero worship thing I guess). However since you're interested in my favourite topic, try looking up Dan Insonato (it's usually pretty easy to find videos with him in it).
