for all you young'uns...
I was a personal trainer for Bally's and I have set many people up on weight training programs. I have to say, without any hesitation, that the Body For Life program is the fastest, easieste method for packing on muscles and strength._I added into it, deadlifts, and powercleans.)
Go to the site and do the workout-it's forty minutes for upper body and forty minutes for lower body. All you have to do is follow the program, and EAT!!! Eat real food and get enough protien and low glycemic index carbs and you will become huge.
Later on, you can jump to techniques lke Mentzer's High Intensity training. But trust me, my guys have made such huge gains-especially because at your age, your body is producing so much growth hormone, and weight training increases the production of growth hormone, it's better than steroids-it's natural, and it's real!

Well I'm kinda short so I stay away from the exercises that seem to cause a stunt in growth like deadlifts, barbell squats, or benches. I use dumbells and I have a sorta schedule thing like legs one night, arms the next and chest /back /shoulders and that's repeated with a rest in one of the days.

First, there arent any excercises that can stunt your growth.

I weight train and have gotten a routine that I love. Its called 5x10's

Here is the begginers version.

Week 1 5x5's s=sets, r=reps

Monday

Squat 5sx5r
Leg Press 5sx5r
Leg Extension 3sx5-7r
Standing calf raise 3sx8-10r
Russian twist (torso) 3sx10-15r

Wednesday

Bench Press 5sx5r
Dumbell Bench press 5sx5r
Barbell shoulder press 3sx5-7r
Close Grip Bench Press 3sx5-7r
Crunches 3sx10-12r

Friday

Deadlift 5sx5r
Romanian deadlift 5sx5r
Lying leg curl 3sx5-7r
Barbell row 3sx5-7r
Hanging leg raises 3sx12-15r

Rest 2 minutes between sets.
Do a weight that you can do at least twp sets of 5 on. If you can do all 5 sets of 5 then the weight is too light. If you can only do a total of 15 after 5 sets its too heavy.
Keep this up until you can do 5set of 5 then increase the weight.

The following week do...

10x10's

Monday

Squat 10sx10r
Leg Press 3sx8-10r
Lunge 3sx8-10r
seated calf raise 3sx12-15r
woodchoppers (dumbell) 3sx15-20r

Wednesday
Pretty much mimics wednesday for 5x5's

Friday
Pretty much mimics Friday for 5x5's

Pick a weight that you can do ALL 10 sets at 10 reps.

swap routines bacl and forth each week for 8 weeks. Then rest for 1 week.

This will increase muscle mass and strength.

weight training will NOT stunt your growth. Just the opposite.
Weight training increases the production of HGH-Human Growth Hormone.
They also said smoking and drinking coffee would stunt your growth-I was smoking since I was 12, and drank coffee since I was 5. I am around 6 foot tall. I guess maybe I could've been seven feet or something...

I've got a stumpy annoying 'friend' who started weightlifting around my age. His parents aren't short.

just because your parents are short doesnt mean you are going to be short. same applies to being tall.

i dont think the is any evidence that weight lifting stunts your growth. if anyone knows if it does please explain.

Height is genetic to a large extent, so if both your parents are short odds are you are also. But there are always unexpected things that happen with genetics.

I doubt there is any evidence of this, but the thought is that if you have big and/or tight muscles then they apply more force to your growth plates and don't let them expand. Conversely, if you are flexible, you will be taller because your bones have an easier time stretching out your muscles. I doubt this is true, however, just doesn't seem like flexibility can make that much of a difference.

Strength training

Wieghts, or body lifting, push-ups, pull-ups, sit-ups and on & on - it all helps in martial arts training.

Thanks,
Tom

It ain't really about losing weight, it's about losing fat. Bodybuilders usually want to gain weight, muscle weight, and you can lose using bodybuilding supplements.

Bodybuilding.com - The Future Of Bodybuilding! Huge Bodybuilding Site.
Best site for weight training, bodybuilding, whatever.

As long as you keep a good plan, you probably could find one on the site I provided or Ten Tiger's link, you will be able to burn fat.

Just a open question for those who may not know....

Do you think or know why working out increases energy?
