Lol I think this is obvious. xD People (especially teenage boys/joke) feel insecure about their own strength and reputation knowing that you are practicing martial arts. Afraid that people might think you can beat them up anytime, they tend to boost their own egos by putting you down.
Think about the fact that your friend is a she... She could also be the reason. xD
