the price of teen ego's and Martial Arts
hello my fellow teen warriors.
i havent posted in a while, wayyyyy to busy these days but i just want to say something that has already been said before....so let me acknowledge something.
today, my ex girlfriend showed me a text message that her friend doesnt like me. idk why he doesnt, and since i find it senseless to not like someone if you dont know them, i ended up getting angry at the guy because he doesnt know me yet he hates me.
im going to try and talk to him and see whats up after spring break but this is just a pointless story
my real topic is how showing your martial arts (showing off or just practicing with no intention of boasting) can get you in trouble.
so today i was talking to my frined and she tells me about how some guy thinks he can kick my butt. now i dont know this guy at ALL, but he suddenly thinks he can beat me?
im 99% sure that he has either seen me practicing or he has seen my myspace page, decorated with bruce lee and martial arts vids.
so fellow green kids (thanks MM47) what do you think?
what i am trying to get at here is that going around doing your MA can get you in trouble because i dont know what to do with these guys, and yet they both want to kick my tail.
maybe because they think i am a Martial Arts poser, or maybe they think that they can beat my martial arts, idk.

....god i wish i was as smart as these youtubers.... i mean this guy was an MMA coach!
These guys sound like some right tw*ts. I'd say, just let them think what they want to think. If they really want to fight you, then there's nothing you can do but kick their asses. But otherwise just don't take what they say on board. There's probably some psychological reason which says that the only reason they're in a way challenging you is to impress people.

true true. well i am going to talk to these guys and see why it is they dont like me, but im sure that there wont be a fight.
if there is ill only fight as a last resort, or try to not fight at all. even though me being young and arrogant i welcome fights sometime, but there is more at stake here than just me and them.
they are good friedns with my friends so then if i fight them i lose two friends and make four enemies.
oh hey i just noticed your sig.

Yeah I suppose I do kinda want fights as well, but I suppose it's a teenage thing. Well if they hit you in the face, then take that as your ticket to hit back. But remember, bruises and cuts heal, good verbal abuse haunts the recipients.

Yeah, I guess that explains how in every martial arts film the main character is a harmless charming fellow, who just naturally comes across people who want to kill him.

Unfortunately, that's the world we live in. The bad guys just can't seem to deal with their jealousy over good people.

i know what you mean by doing martial arts attracting unwanted attention. and they probbly just don't like you because they feel your a poser for wearing martial arts uniforms, and for doing martial arts all the time(people feel the same way about me, as u already know) so i just say either ignore them or just go see what they want, and if it comes to it

I've dealt with that. I've had my challenges and simply talked to them made friends and basically kept my head down. Don't just waltz around with "I do martial arts" attached to your forehead.
Anyway just stay low and if they hit block and if they persist try to lock and drop if they still persist, destroy. And if they bring their buddies, run like hell

Yeah well I walk around having 'I have something to do with martial arts.' tagged on my skin.
Typical scenario at school:
Hoodlum: You chinese?
Me: Yeah?
Hoodlum: Come we fight, let me see your Bruce lee sh*t.

Hahaha, well I get that kind of stuff. I look sort of Israeli and It's known I do Krav Maga. For some reason I don't get tagged as someone who people like to screw with.

Yeah but when you don't do kung fu, that's a complete different story. But meh, I usually just find bricks lying around.

I'm what some would call, an armchair expert. Nah, I took karate at what I would now know as a mcdojo when i was younger but I quit cos the teacher's b.o. was more deadly than his fists. But then I never got a chance to start again until now, I'm starting judo this week. But I've picked up bits of martial arts from obsessive reading, and watching, and sparring with other people who actually do martial arts. And besides, bricks are easier.

wel lthat could also be because of your build h aha
can you describe to me what you look like? or your attitude or actions when in public, because me....im 5'10" pretty thin but it is apparent i work out and i am fit because of the shape i present, but the only thing that makes me seem weak is that i am always smiling and laughing and i am always saying "excuse me" or "sorry" or "ma'am/Sir" thats why people tend to choose me to screw with.
but as i said, let them, i dont mind.
even if i do get beat up there is nothing more i could do but fight because i always try to dismiss them

I'm a decent size I weigh about 180 and am the same height. I usually keep my head down. But when I'm with friends I hang and smile. I have a very militaristic way of speaking, I speak like I can handle any situation. I use good english and speak it properly. I don't hang with the wrong kind of people. And I don't travel alone.
I prefer to think that it's because of my size that people don't mess with me.
