Bring the Pain, You Won't Gain

When I was a wee lad, I often wanted to take my anger out on my parent. So I joined martial arts, and I began to do just that. I soon learned that beating up my dad was not the answer. I didn't gain anything, and he kept grounding me. Granted, I would just beat him up again, but it was a vicious cycle. I soon found myself on the bad end of the law, and faced with juvenile justice, I saw what all my bad deeds had accomplished.

Do not follow my path. Join martial arts for the spiritual. Cultivate the tiger spiritual of the mind, and you will go far.

So why did you join martial arts?

Adopted father. No. He's not my biochronogical father. After he adopted me, I tried to beat him up when he tried to make me eat a bowl of cold pea soup.

It was a big mistake. He quickly dispatched me and tied me up with his black belt. He then said: "this is the closest you'll ever come to getting a black belt."

He then force fed me the cold pea soup. I cursed him. He then said: "You remember how I said I'd make you eat hte bowl of soup?"

I shot back: "Mission accomplished, you old fogey!"

He then stuffed the bowl into my mouth and made me eat it.

Granted, it was a paper bowl, and I was eating with a paper spoon, but I'm allergic to most disposable kitchenware paper molds, so I nearly died.

I had a rough childhood.

I hope you guys fare better....both literally and figuratively.

Jason is a jewel in the rough

I was attracted to martial arts from Hollywood glamourisation. I soon came to Earth when I joined this forum.

So what's it like with your father now? And has martial arts benefited you besides physically?
