Young Martial ArtistsPlace for young martial artists (under 18) to discuss topics that pertains to their age group
I was daydreaming the on the way to work about trainign with a few of the more experienced and senior members of this forum. So I decided to start up this thread. If you could train under one of the guys in this forum, who would it be an why?
Personally I'd have to say Souldrum and Ladyfighter. They run a school which sounds great, they come across as excellent teachers (and people) and they're style (if I understand it properly) sounds like what I'd like to learn.
GambatteKarate also seems like he'd be a good guy to train under and again his style seems like something I could really enjoy.
I also wouldn't mind training under TFW and WC_Lun, but I don't think either of them actually teach MA classes at he moment.
I'd probably pick Complete or GK. Either of their styles are my cup of tea. Complete even learns Hapkido, which is wicked cool.
Other choices would be Chapel and Lun, or maybe even Joe, though i don't know what a grapple MA would be like.

I would like to train with Joe. His jujitsu prowess sounds awesome and I think I could learn a LOT from him in that area of my game. Which, BTW, is the area most lacking for me.
I'd love to train at Joe's school for a while since I'm working towards a ranking in BJJ now anyway. Joe's knowledge is sound, and the fact that he works with MMA guys would help me rounding out my game as well.
I'd also love to spend some time training with Complete and Chapel because they both have solid backgrounds in the Korean arts, and that's been my main emphasis for some time now.
In addition, I'd like to train under Triangle to see what his MMA program is like and to do some wrestling. Which is something I've never focused on but would probably help my ground game tremendously.
Good thread idea, by the way. +rep
Addition: I just noticed this is in the Young Martial Artists forum, which is usually reserved for stylists under 18. I hope you guys don't mind us old fellas chiming in.

Go ahead, i guess! I mean, there aren't that many active youngsters round' here, i think.
Good to hear your ten cents, too.

I'd like to train under a few of the guys in this forum, but I'll keep it to five so I don't end up typing all night. If I miss you out, it's not due to disrespect. In alphabetical order my choices are;
47MM: Guy whose trained that long and through so many decades would definitely have a few tricks up his sleeves. Also one of his "foundation" styles is a system I'm pretty interested in.
Draven: I thought I was an SD guy but then I read this bloke's posts. I've always thought that military combatives, while not the most technically skilled system, was one which taught reliable skills, quickly and efficiently. Also I'd like to see Ninjutsu actually work.
Ladyfighter and Souldrum: Yeah I know they're two people but I'm thinking more along the lines of they're both instructors at the same school. They're syllabus sounds enjoyable and they're both successful in a competition format that seems pretty fun.
Triangle: I'm getting old and probably won't ever get a pro-MMA fight but I'd still like to try MMA. Tri is former MT champ and a skilled wrestler, both skill sets which I think would be awesome.
WC_Lun: I've always had a soft spot for Wing Chun. Lun knows his stuff and has also has experience in other Kung Fu systems. He'd be great to expand my weapons training past sticks and blades.
BTW: I just realised this is in the young MA section. I did my usual practice of looking up a bloke on my "friends list" and seeing if they started any threads and this is how I got here. Guess that's what happens when I decide to post before reading what everyone else typed (cus I didn't want others choices affecting me). So um.... I'm young at heart. Oh and +Rep for the thread.

Reason: Just realised something.
Well I guess we're all young at heart. I always have an open invitation for anyone here to come and train, so if you're ever in Chicago or NWI let me know and I'll totally make time for you.
Souldrum I still think I'm going to come out and see you guys at some point because I've never been to bama and am totally into going place I've never seen.
Me myself I'd like to train with Joe, he's got solid jits. I'd actually like to train with Draven and see what his whole thing is about. GK, Soul & LF, Complete & Chapel, and Lun because I think they'd all be fun to do some stand up with.
Styles: Moo Duk Kwon TKD, Kyokushin Karate, Judo, Muay Thai, Jeet Kune Do

Its not about who i'd want as my teacher, but who you guys want as your student!! just kidding.
me, personally id choose
Joe and/or Tri: I really want to learn ground fighting, and also being as how thats my worse area, i am all about being a well-rounded fighter, even if i prefer stand up.
WC_Lun: I admit it... Ever since i watched videos, or studied up on the art of Wing Chun, i have been a sucker for it. Right now its on my top 2 arts i want to learn right now. I think that based on all he says and does, he will be a great teacher, in both physical instruction and philisophical.
LF: I feel that because she teaches people my age, i would be more comfortable learning and connecting with her as a student. Not only that but she also teaches one of my favorite arts i have learned (TKD) and just like kung fu and wing chun, i am also a sucker for that.

I don't teach right now due to not being able to gaurantee I can make a set class time. However, if you ever make it to Kansas City from Australia, I'll be glad to work with you a bit Guess that goes for anyone on this forum.
I would like to train with any member on the forum. I see alot of knowledge here and I am not too proud to admit that I believe I could learn something from everyone here.
If I had to pick just one person, it would be Souldrum and Ladyfighter (sorry - you guys are a pair). They have their own training facility and are very knowledgeable about TKD, which I have been doing for the past 3+ years. I think they could teach me quite a bit as I think have most of the basics down pretty well.
A close second would be Joe, Trianglefromguard, and Gambatte, as they are all very knowledgeable in their respective styles as well. MM47 also pops into my head as he has many, many years experience.
